Karen Docherty

Karen Docherty took up post as Project & Quality Assurance Manager for the company in August 2006 and was promoted to Chief Executive in September 2009.

Karen has been the driving force behind building DSA QAG to the reputation and status the organisation holds within the Disabled Student's Allowance sector, working closely with the Department for Education, the Welsh Government, various funding bodies and Higher Education Institutions throughout the UK. With overall responsibility for the registration of new organisations to the DSA sector, the quality assurance of over 800 organisations and the continuous improvement for the student journey through the DSA process.

Karen has a wealth of knowledge and has worked for the Student Loans Company (12 years) and Department for Education and Skills (4 years) and closely with HEIs and Local Authorities for almost sixteen years including knowledge of the DSA, student funding and student experience with extensive stakeholder management. In addition she has over 25 years of experience in auditing and quality assuring systems, transforming services, implemented and managed change projects from local to national level for a wide range of delivery objectives including the design of various IT systems in both the private and public sector.

Operations Manager

Jim Kersse

Jim Kersse joined DSA-QAG as the Field Auditor in August 2015 and after a successful period with QAG takes on the role of Operations Manager in February 2016.

Jim has many years working in an operational role within the private and public sector (Scottish Ambulance Service) in process improvements, managed Information Security Management Systems and has extensive experience of stakeholder management bringing his invaluable experience to the DSA-QAG and the DSA sector.

Compliance Officer - Internal/ExternalStuart Moir

Stuart Moir took up the post of Compliance Officer – Internal/External in October 2018 and will be the dedicated compliance officer for a portfolio of both assessment centres and ATSPs .

Stuart has previously worked in the retail sector, managing compliance and processes in a variety of roles.

Senior Compliance Officer - NMH

John Scolaro

John Scolaro took up the post of Compliance Officer - NMH Internal/External and joins the NMH team following the introduction of NMH Providers in January 2017. John performs a dual role conducting both internal and onsite audits.

John brings a European flavour to our team in Glasgow having recently moved from Malta to the UK. John brings his experience of working in a compliance and risk management background and introducing risk management procedures.

Senior Compliance Officer - NMH - Internal/External

Gavin Lawlor

Gavin Lawlor took up the post of Compliance Officer - Internal in November 2017.

Gavin has 8 years experience in the public sector, working as a civil servant for HMRC as an enforcement and compliance officer and has a broad range of experience from working in various public services.

Compliance Officer - NMH - External

Keith Miller

Keith Miller took up the post of Compliance Officer – External in February 2017 and performs onsite audits.

Keith has over thirty years’ experience of multi-site management with some of the country’s largest retailers. As an area manager and later as operations manager, compliance was at the heart of his role.
Keith has also managed an accredited training centre for City & Guilds and is acquainted with the audit processes involved in maintaining Registration with awarding bodies.
